A bus service to more conveniently connect Oberon customers with the Bathurst Bullet has been extended into 2022.
Deputy Premier, Minister for Regional Transport and Roads and Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the bus service, which runs five days a week on a 40-kilometre stretch between Fleming Street, Oberon and Tarana station, makes it easier for locals who need to travel to and from Sydney.
“This bus services delivers greater transport connectivity options that meet the needs of the community by allowing Oberon customers to easily connect to the Bathurst Bullet at Tarana,” Mr Toole said
“We’ve seen consistent patronage on the bus service since we launched it a year ago, and now we’re extending it until 31 May 2022 to provide customers with even more choice to move across the region.
"This service is an example of just one of the ways we are looking for the best ways to serve and connect our regional communities – and bi-modal journeys like these build on our vision to help make public transport a first-choice option for people living in the regions.
"While the last year has presented many challenges with bushfires, floods, landslides and COVID-19, we are committed to providing improved connections and to promoting growth in regional NSW."
The Bathurst Bullet is a twice-daily rail service connecting Bathurst and Sydney, which typically carries about 3,300 customers per month (pre-COVID).The service replaces the former NSW TrainLink service from Oberon to Mount Victoria.

Tickets can be purchased on board the bus for $5.00 Oberon to Tarana (one way) or $2.50 Regional Excursion Daily (RED) and $8.99 Tarana to Sydney (one way) or $2.50 Opal Senior/Pensioner.
