BATHURST PCYC MOVING FORWARD IN LEAPS AND BOUNDS

Bathurst PCYC has been a hive of activity over the recent school holidays and the activities will continue throughout the school year. This community space is a hub for young locals to learn, play and grow in a safe environment.

Previously, the NSW Government has supported the work of the Police Citizens Youth Club located on Morrissett Street, Bathurst through an array of grants accumulating to over $184,000 to fund youth programs, purchase equipment and complete upgrades to the main entrance, foyer, and kitchen area.

Now, Deputy Premier and Member for Bathurst Paul Toole is today announcing a further $16,500 from the Community Building Partnership program to complete an upgrade of the mezzanine level.

The upgrade will include a recovering of the floor which provides access to the upstairs meeting and classrooms and viewing areas of the gymnastic and sports courts.

Mr Toole said the Bathurst PCYC does a great job with the youth of the region and is well-known for the role it plays in the local community.

“More than 2500 young people are engaged annually in club run activities and gymnastics is by far the most popular,” he said.

“We all acknowledge the incredible work that the PCYC does in our community and many of these activities are underpinned by targeted training programs that are responsive to emerging social problems.”

Bathurst PCYC manager Linda Clemens said the club is very thankful for the NSW Government’s support.

“We are all about helping the local community and this funding will allow us to complete some much-needed upgrades to the club’s mezzanine floor,”

“This is a very well used area where parents sit to watch their children and program participants take their breaks from class.”

The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 18,000 community projects since it commenced in 2009. Applications for the 2023 Program open in May 2023.
