BATHURST SWIM CLUB RECEIVES FUNDING

Bathurst City Amateur Swim Club have been making a splash in the competitive swimming scene with many up-and-coming champions practicing their perfect stroke.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole delivered good news to the club with a grant of $5,000 from the NSW Government’s Local Sports Grant Fund for the club to purchase some more equipment.

Mr Toole congratulated the club on their successes both in and out of the pool.

“Swimming is one of the most inclusive sports caterings for a wide variety of abilities,” Mr Toole said.

“This is the type of welcoming, family orientated sports club that the Bathurst community needs.

“It is great to see Bathurst Swim Club flourishing with increased membership and now their need for more equipment will be met.”

Club representative Alison Whalan said the club was thrilled to receive the funding.

“Our club was proudly established in 1975 and since then has produced swimmers of all levels from those competing on a regular basis for fun and fitness through to high performance national level competitors,” Mrs Whalan said.

“We welcome everyone to our club nights each Friday evening at Bathurst Aquatic Centre year round.”

Bathurst Swim Club recently held the Mountains & Plains Swimming Winter Championships in which Mr Toole attended.

The Championships were held on June 15th and 16th at Bathurst Aquatic Centre and of all ages and abilities competed in age-group racing, single races and relays.
