KANDOS MUSEUM MASTERPLAN REVEALED

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole and Museum President Buzz Sanderson have announced Kandos Museum’s Masterplan that will cement the museum’s future in the region.

Kandos Museum’s committee received $68,200 in funding last year from the former NSW Government’s Creative Capital program to develop a masterplan that would encompass everything from collection preservation and future expansions.

This masterplan addresses the cultural policy & place-making, audience engagement, infrastructure, and museum collection and curation policy and practices.

Local Member Paul Toole said this was great news for the museum which also doubles at the town’s tourist information centre.

“Kandos is home of cement; the products of this small village built every other town. The Kandos Museum is preserving the town’s industrial and social history,” Mr Toole said.

“This masterplan will bring the museums policies and procedures into the modern day and comply with best practice.

“This means the museum will become an even better place to visit for all and will allow for planning into the future.”

Museum President Buzz Sanderson said it has given the committee peace of mind.

“This investment in the Museum’s future has made us feel much more confident that if something were to happen there is a plan in place anyone could come in and execute,” Mr Sanderson said.

“This museum has been a labor of love with a team of volunteers constructing and maintaining the facility and collection. We have big plans ahead and this is only the beginning.

“I am delighted the NSW Government has made this possible for Kandos.”
