Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has announced that construction has started on a new helipad for Lithgow Hospital.
“The new helipad is part of a $200,000 upgrade which will ensure the community continues to have access to world class health care,” Mr Toole said.
“Construction of the new helipad is expected to take eight weeks and I am looking forward to seeing it completed and servicing our community in the coming months.”
The Hospital has worked with aviation safety consultants to identify a temporary landing site in Lithgow to continue helicopter patient transfer services during construction.
It also has arrangements with NSW Ambulance to provide ground transport between the Hospital and the temporary landing site.
The emergency department and other services at Lithgow Hospital continue to be fully operational.
