The NSW Government’s Crown Lands Improvement Fund is set to help address flooding issues at the home of the Bathurst Girl Guides.
Their headquarters on the corner of William and Charlotte Streets is built into a slope near the Peace Park, but that leads to water running through the site in times of a severe weather event.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said funding of $53,350 will address the drainage problem, as well as improving facilities for the Guides.
“The work includes the construction of a carpark, improvements to drainage, the addition of a retaining wall and footpath,” he said.
Mr Toole met with Bathurst Girl Guide members including Assistant District Manager Gemma Evans and Unit Leaders Gaylene Anderson and Narissa Boeren to see first-hand how the upgrades would help.
“You can see where the water runs through the car park and down the hill towards the clubhouse,” he said.
“The improvements will spruce up the grounds of the Girl Guides that front onto William Street which really is a high profile location in the central business district.”
